Project Engineer-Capital Project Management

Full Job Description

In support of our client, a global automotive OEM, we are currently seeking a Project Engineer with Capital Project Management experience. In this role, you will support multiple facility expansion projects. This project assignment will be based at our client's powertrain manufacturing facility in Smyrna, TN and will work directly with our client's construction project management team and vendors to provide leadership and administration for a long-term contract assignment.

In this role, the selected candidate will:

  • Oversee the construction of multiple small to medium sized capital expansion projects of an existing automotive powertrain manufacturing facility in an Owner's Rep capacity.
  • Possess some experience in project management for Mechanical, Plumbing & Electrical equipment installation preferred.
  • Responsible for administering all site related duties; project safety, scope of work, schedule, cost estimate, cost reports, project staffing, project team performance, construction, invoicing and quality plan
  • Plans, directs and documents construction vendor assignments and activities on the project.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct diverse team of vendors and internal personnel
  • Mechanical engineering tasks.
  • Tracking construction schedules.
  • Observe the construction for conformance to the intent and requirements of the contract documents (drawings and specifications).
  • Prepare weekly reports of findings.
  • Assist in coordination between General Contractor, Client’s other vendors and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide monthly contract budget tracking reports.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and design criteria within the industrial construction field.
  • Knowledge of proposals and bid processes.
  • Proficient technical ability and awareness
  • Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures
  • Proficient execution planning skills
  • Experience in organizing and managing complex construction activities.
  • Working knowledge of project control systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, thorough documentation skills
  • Understands contract terms.
  • Requires basic knowledge of administrative practices and company standard

Job Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in heavy industrial construction preferred.
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or Construction Management discipline preferred
