Quality Engineer

ResourceTek, a leader in technical support services, is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our client, a manufacturer of automotive and appliance parts. We are looking for candidates with 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment. The primary job tasks will include continuous improvement based on product quality. This is a direct hire opportunity near Dickson, TN.

Qualifications required:

  • 3-years’ experience as a quality engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of IATF16949, 5S, 8D, 3 Phase/5 Why and other quality core tools
  • Ability to measure product with hand gauges and understand product drawing requirements
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Black Belt or equivalent problem-solving experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent (preferred, but not required)
  • Bilingual Spanish – Written and Verbal (preferred, but not required)

 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Complete all work adhering to IATF16949 standards
  • Initiates and completes 8D report including a lead role in root cause analysis
  • Customer liaison for quality related issues
  • Scheduled customer visits with willingness to travel up to 10% of time
  • Conduct internal continuous improvements projects based on product quality
  • Coordinates engineering changes ensuring documents and the quality system are updated
  • Works within engineering and quality departments to ensure timely completion of new launches
  • Assist Team with developing product process flow charts, control plans, and FMEAs as required
  • Coordinates part layouts
  • Works within all areas and have the ability to effectively communicate ideas, problems and solutions to all employees
  • Establishes a working knowledge of the clients Quality System

  • IQMS – Quality Management System

 

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time
  • Must be able to squat, bend, twist and move to inspect tooling, equipment and parts
  • Must have fine motor skills to grasp and manipulate small parts
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a factory setting that is not climate controlled, as the project demands
  • Must be able to visually inspect parts with or without corrective lenses
