Raw Material Procurement Analyst

In partnership with our client, a global leader in metals manufacturing, we are seeking an experienced Raw Materials Procurement Analyst to support our client’s Mobile, AL manufacturing facility. This is a full time, direct hire opportunity. 

 

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY/PURPOSE OF POSITION: Ensure raw material supply to meet Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) production plan.

 

EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial/Manufacturing/Metallurgical Engineering or experience equivalent
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in supply chain or inventory management
  • Extensive experience in raw materials purchasing for Electric Arc Furnace operation required
  • Considerable experience buying scrap metal

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:          

  1. Develop suppliers and supply chain for all raw materials for EAF (HBI/DRI, Pig Iron, scrap, alloys, etc), with heavy focus on scrap metal
  2. Negotiate supply contracts and execute spot purchases
  3. Make financial decisions about raw material supply and transportation
  4. Negotiate detailed purchase contracts with affiliated and 3rd party suppliers
  5. Work with other departments, to include Commercial, Planning, and Slab Procurement, to develop supply plans
  6. Track and report raw material inventory and position to plan

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 

  • Strong understanding of scrap metal business in United States market
  • Solid understanding of inventory management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and display a high degree of professionalism

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workload
