Junior Structural Design Engineer

We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other technical disciplines.

 

In support of our client, an international Automotive manufacturer, we are searching for a Junior Structural Design Engineer with field experience to join their team located in Smyrna, TN. This will be a contract to direct hire opportunity.

The candidate will assist in the design and development of industrial structural models and construction drawings. Generate drawings from sketches, calculations, mechanical and structural construction documents, and verbal instructions. Coordinate with other disciplines and design teams to fulfill project requirements. Work with other engineers on the accuracy of drawings and complete various tasks as required by clients and projects.

Job Duties include:

  • Perform analysis and design of structural members and systems.
  • Take field measurements of existing structural members and systems and design required modifications.
  • Provide layout of new structural members and system and produce production quality drawings for bidding and construction.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Design of structural supports for monorail and bridge crane hoists.
  • Design of mezzanines and structural steel work platforms (column and hanger supported) including layout out stairs.
  • Design of fall restraint system structural supports.
  • Design of concrete foundations for balconies, jib crane hoists, rotary equipment, robots, etc.
  • Design of concrete pits, retaining walls, and slabs on grade.
  • Providing layouts detailing mechanical and electrical interferences.

Skills / Requirements:

  • BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant structural designing experience is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS office is required.
  • Basic understanding of algebra and geometry
  • Experience with RISA is preferred.
