Project Management Team Manager

In partnership with our client, a global leader in metals manufacturing, we are seeking an experienced Project Management Team Manager to support our client’s Mobile, AL advanced steel finishing facility. This is a direct hire opportunity.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will support the current and future Steelmaking Capital Projects. The person will give direction to current and future Engineering services suppliers by supervising their Engineering function. In addition, the Engineering Manager will work closely with OEMs and other suppliers of Engineering support to ensure their engineering activities are delivered on time, on budget and with high quality of design.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage the performance of all Project Engineering resources; this will include Engineers, EPCM/EPC Engineering staff, OEM Engineering Deliverables and other Engineering resources as needed to complete the project safely, timely and on budget.
  • Develop KPIs and other deliverables for Project Engineering groups; then monitor and ensure those KPIs are being met or exceeded
  • Develop company Project Engineering staff for future leadership roles
  • Act as Project Manager as required when Project Manager is absent
  • Lead or attend all Engineering related meetings, with all Engineering teams; this will include Project Kickoff Meetings, Design Review Meetings, OEM Technical Contract discussions and other meetings (Domestic and International) as required
  • Act as the Primary Engineering resource for all Project Engineering related questions; supply unbiased Engineering opinions with respect to costs, design, cost-benefits decisions, and other complex decisions

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Masters and/or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of Prior Engineering Management experience across a multi-discipline team; 10+ years of total Engineering experience
  • Engineering background with Steel or Aluminum mills; Steelmaking experience preferred
  • Experience managing EPCM or EPC Engineering activities on large (>$500MM Projects)
  • Experience dealing in a Global supply chain, with overseas OEM suppliers
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to implement innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex Engineering challenges
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to hold suppliers and vendors accountable
