IT Support Specialist

In support of our client, a leading provider of network software and hardware-based solutions, we are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This is a consulting contract opportunity.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for answering customer inquiries via email, chat or phone concerning desktop and laptop hardware, software applications, and network issues. In addition, this role will perform administrative responsibilities such as create new accounts based on security best practices, disable accounts, and fulfill exchange email requests. This position is part of a team that provides excellent customer service for internal and remote users. This position reports to the Manager, IT Services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Answer incoming communications (calls, email, chats, etc.) regarding desktop and laptop hardware, software applications, network issues and other topics.
  • Log work orders into a trouble‐ticketing system for issues that cannot be resolved at the point of contact.
  • Perform administration responsibilities such as password resets, create new accounts, disable accounts, and fulfill exchange email requests.
  • Provide technical support for Microsoft Office applications.
  • Troubleshoot Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot issues with a variety of mobile devices such as iPhone and Android.
  • Troubleshoot other IT‐related issues with the goal of resolving at the point of contact.
  • Assign work orders to PC Technicians, System Administrators, and/or Network Engineers for issues that cannot be resolved over the phone/email/chat.
  • Complete tasks in a timely and effective manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1‐3 years of customer service experience, specifically in the IT field, expected.
  • Experience using Active Directory.
  • Experience working with organizational functions and personnel.
  • Experience working with computer software and telephone technology.
  • Experience working with and skilled in the use of help desk software.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 365 and current Operating Systems.
  • Ability to resolve basic IT issues over the phone, email and chat is required.
  • No travel is required.

 

PREFERRED

  • Security certifications highly desirable.
