Senior Hardware Design Engineer

In support of our client, a leading provider of network software and hardware-based solutions, we are seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This is a long-term contract opportunity.



The Hardware Design Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for the development and maintenance of the company’s product family. This Hardware Design Engineer is a highly skilled professional level position with a broad knowledge base within a design specialization and acts as a technical authority in area of specialty on assigned projects. Requires prior experience in all areas of product development life cycle: conceptualizing, developing prototypes, testing, and perfecting designs. Assignments are broad, requiring independent judgment in applying engineering principles and may act as a lead on some projects and guide other lower-level Engineers and Technicians



  • Design or assist in the design, development, debugging, and integration of power supply and analog hardware for company’s product family.
  • Design or assist in the design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for Telecommunications products.
  • Design or assist in the design of hardware architecture, schematic capture, prototype testing, and PCB layout review.
  • Troubleshoot regulatory compliance failures.
  • Lead hardware architecture development efforts.
  • Lead projects and oversee other engineer’s design and architecture decisions.
  • Assist others within engineering and tech support in debugging issues.
  • Provide input in determining the level of effort required for hardware and product features requested from product management.
  •  Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5-8 years of prior experience demonstrating specialized knowledge in the analysis, design, and evaluation of analog and power supply circuits and components
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of analog and power supply design principles and architecture skills required along with the ability to independently lead projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing, specifying, and evaluating custom magnetic components.
  • Experience with lead-free PCB design required.
  • Experience with standard analog test equipment such as multi-meters, digital oscilloscopes, electronic loads, network and spectrum analyzers, and inductance/capacitance meters
  • No travel is expected for this position.



  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Additional education and certifications are preferred.
