In support of our client, a large steel manufacturer, ResourceTek is seeking an experienced Rolling Mill Automation and Controls Engineer to join their team in Washington, PA. This is a direct hire opportunity.
JOB SUMMARY
The Automation and Controls Engineer will lead the identification and recommendation of the purchase, modification, and improvement of various equipment.
JOB DETAILS
- Manage all aspects of large cross-functional project and is responsible for cost, schedule, performance, and deliverables for the entire project.
- Define the scope of the project and selects team members from within and outside of their discipline.
- Lead the completion of engineering & design work related to the installation and retrofit of varies, complex equipment.
- Ensure that advanced day-to-day equipment troubleshooting support is provided to Maintenance.
- Lead the development of standards, processes, and procedures within the department.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced Engineers across disciplines.
- Provide day-to-day direction to Engineering staff.
- Interpret internal/external business issues and recommends best practices in own function. Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in own function.
- Effectively organizes and manages projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area. Forecasts and plans resource requirements for projects or teams
- Monitor and implement controls costs for own work and may manage costs/budgets for large projects or areas.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Four-year college degree in electrical, mechanical or automation engineering.
- Ten or more years of relevant experience in the design, fabrication and troubleshooting of automation and control systems.
- Expert knowledge of PLC's and HMI systems, Networking and Level II control systems, power distribution, arc flash, MCC's, low voltage distribution, drive systems and basic industrial control technology, latest ACI, AISC and IBC codes, latest governing codes (i.e.: NFPA, ASME, SAE, AIST, JIC, etc.) and of water recirculation cooling systems, compressed air and pneumatic systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, and control), and natural gas combustion systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Electrical Engineering standards (i.e.: IEEE, NEC, etc.).
- Expert understanding of steel and concrete analysis and design of industrial buildings, building foundations, large industrial equipment foundations and crane runways, understanding of CAD, Work and Excel.
- Experiences in applying sound engineering and design principles in development of manufacturing processes, process equipment and fabrications, dealing with fabrication shops and equipment vendors, developing RFP's and RFQ's for the purchasing of equipment and services, field installation coordination and direction, equipment and process related ergonomic and safety designs and considerations, and working closely with and in support of plant production and maintenance personnel.
- Solves complex problems; takes a board perspective to identify innovative solutions.
- Anticipates customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies new solutions.
- Leads others to resolve complex problems in non-standard situations and develop creative solutions.
- Ability to work in a production environment, organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, conceptually develop, and manage large assignments including responsibility for the appropriate standards and procedures, coach, and mentor less experienced Engineers across disciplines, apply engineering discipline training in the design of equipment and fabrications, and ability to direct outside consultants, contractors, and material suppliers.
- Application of recognized Project management principles keying on Cost, Schedule, and Performance in the implementation of projects to manage all aspects of large cross functional projects.
- Skilled in the use of CAD systems (3D capabilities preferred), MS Office software packages, and engineering design software packages.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Direct experience in hot roll mill equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
- Expert knowledge of storm water, sanitary systems, property maps and surveying.
- Willing to work in a fast paced, every changing work environment.
