Multi-Craft Maintenace Technician (Night Shift)

Training will begin on day shift, then move to a schedule of Monday - Thursday (7pm-7am) when Night Shift becomes established around January 2021.  Night Shift pay deferential of an additional $1 per hour will then go into effect.

General Duties & Functions

* Participates in installations and start-up assistance for new installation and equipment modifications

* Installs and debugs automation for assembly equipment, controls, wiring and interface systems

* Checks and adjust automation parameters during changeovers and note changes for update

* Design and fabricate small fixtures for equipment

* Discovers methods of improving efficiency and ensure quality standards, as an individual and part of a team

* Assists QA with finding and implementing corrective actions from customer rejections

* Communicates with other shifts, operators, and technicians to give and receive updates on equipment status

* Interpret blueprints and schematics, implement methods, practices, and techniques of maintaining production facilities, systems and equipment

* Performs preventive, predictive, project and reactive maintenance as required

* Performs routine diagnostic checks on automated systems and equipment collecting equipment performance data for early diagnosis of potential system and/or equipment malfunction

* Reacts quickly to equipment down condition, evaluates specific nature of trouble through effective troubleshooting and analysis of data, determines root causes of trouble, determines necessary repair, and executes/expedites repair and recovery to restore equipment to safe and efficient operational status

* Communicates specific nature of equipment repair and recovery, along with causes, to appropriate management and operations personnel

* Maintains accurate service records so that the performance of equipment can be monitored

* Inputs appropriate work order and equipment repair data into the maintenance management system, as appropriate to assigned tasks

* Rebuilds, repairs and reassemble machines and equipment

* Communicates required supply of essential spare parts

* Maintains certification as required to perform exception personal maintenance performance

* Participates in engineering design review for new installations and major modifications

* Where appropriate, develops, designs, and implements process improvements to enhance equipment performance and reliability

* Maintain production and facilities equipment manuals library relating to facility

* Assists in the development and delivery of necessary training (operational and maintenance) associated with automation projects

* Assists in training newly assigned team members in the maintenance of equipment in accordance with work and safety instructions and production schedules


* Knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electric systems and PLC programing

* Experience with tool and die (maintenance and repair) highly preferred

* Possesses knowledge of industrial maintenance systems, equipment controls and safety circuits

* Must possess good communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, excellent visual skills for accessing functionality of equipment, above basic mathematical skills and reasoning ability

* Knowledge of OSHA Requirements to include Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, confined space and Lockout/Tagout Procedures

* Basic working knowledge of computer software, email, excel, word and internet

* Experience with operating fork lift

* Ability to operate with speed and accuracy

* Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings

* Demonstrates team spirit, shows flexibility and positive attitude as an active team contributor

* Demonstrates the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

* Demonstrates problem solving skills, is able to recognize and appropriately escalate issues when situations arise

* Ability to successfully complete pre-hire basic skills tests and assessments

* Ability to successfully pass pre-employment background check, physical exam and drug screening

* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Education and/or Experience

* High School Diploma or GED required

* Associate’s degree from an accredited community, technical or vocational college in electronics, robotics, general technology or related technical field preferred

* 4 years of multi-craft experience in a manufacturing environment, or a combination of 2 years of multi-craft experience plus an associate’s degree from an accredited community, technical or vocational college in electronics, robotics, general technology or related technical field

* Lean / process improvement tools experience and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area

Physical Requirements and Demands

* Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout assigned working hours

* Frequent reaching, grasping, bending, and stooping

* Must be able to tolerate odor from raw materials, freshly cured tires and hot materials

* Frequent pulling and/or pushing up to 20 lbs independently, and occasional pushing and/or pulling up to 35 lb independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance

* Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs independently, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance

* Must be able to frequently engage in repetitive motions requiring substantial movement of the wrist, hands and/or fingers

* Adequate vision to read work instructions, job aids and guides, and detect imperfections in raw materials, tooling and finished product

* Ability to work in environment with limited climate control and varied temperature levels

* Must be able to communicate effectively in an environment with continual noise, requiring the ability to hear, understand and communicate work instructions and directions while wearing company provided hearing protection

* Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment mechanical equipment and vibration
