Aviation Planning Manager
On behalf of our client we are seeking applications for an Aviation Planning Manager. Our client is seeking a self-starting aviation planning manager who is customer oriented and driven to complete airport system planning functions at a state level. Selected candidate will lead reviews, assessments, planning, analyzing, and maintaining a Statewide Aviation System. The Manager will initiate, and lead studies related to statewide airport/aviation needs to include system planning, air service, pavement, and economic impact studies. The Manager is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and providing comment on airport narrative reports, airport master plans, airport layout plans, and other airport planning documents as applicable. The Manager provides direction, guidance, and recommendations regarding current and future airport development needs. In addition, this position is responsible for understanding the environmental planning process, to include categorical exclusions and environmental assessments for airport projects.
Under limited supervision, the Manager performs work of considerable complexity and serves as the principle Aviation Planner for assessing, planning, analyzing, and maintaining a State’s Airport Transportation System. The position supervises and/or conducts contract management, project reviews and monitoring, and public participation and involvement. The Manager develops relationships with airport sponsors, consultants, state, and federal agencies.
The position supervises and directs other management personnel responsible for environmental documentation, aviation safety data management, and other aviation planners.
Further responsibilities include managing a statewide airport licensing program, planning contracts, airspace safety evaluation, revenue use policy monitoring, state and federal compliance investigations, and other duties as assigned. Knowledge of FAA planning and compliance guidance and requirements is highly desired.
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Transportation Planning, or related field.
Knowledge of the state aviation programs and experience with aviation planning as it relates to the federal Block Grant Programs is highly desired. Five years of experience in the field of aviation/airport planning is required with ten years of experience preferred.
This is a full time position and requires office hours in Atlanta, GA. The position further requires approximately 15% travel with some limited overnight stays. Successful candidates will be required to submit to and pass a drug test and criminal background check.
