CNC Machinist

In support of our client, a leading producer and distributor of premium specialty alloys, ResourceTek is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Machinist to join our team in the Tanner, Alabama area.

 

Additive Manufacturing Machinist Primary Duties

    • Operates all equipment in the department with little to no supervision and understands all testing procedures and guidelines.
    • Perform the machining of test specimens and parts.
    • Program, set up, and operate CNC and other mills and lathes to prepare finished test specimens.
    • Machine samples into reference standards according to supplied blueprints or drawings and document all information on appropriate forms.
    • Manufacture, maintain, or machine jigs, fixtures, or any parts that are needed.
    • Calibrate the movements on the milling machines and electric discharge machine (EDM), the surface roughness indicators, and the micrometer sets.
    • Aid with hardness testing as needed. Makes recommendations to improve processes in the department. Understand all backlogs, what they mean and their impact.
    • Identify highest priority work and adjust work schedule accordingly. Inform supervision of all out-of-calibration conditions (as found).
    • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.


Additive Manufacturing Machinist Requirements:

    • High school diploma with a two-year associate degree, or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management
    • Two or more years of related experience or equivalent as determined by department management.
    • Proficiency in 5-axis mill machining
    • Proficiency in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software.
    • Understanding engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Knowledge of CNC programming (NC Programming and G Code)
    • Specialized knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures.
    • Specialized knowledge of shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
    • Working knowledge of reference calibration standards and electrodes.
    • Has or is working toward Machinist papers.
    • Familiarity with additive manufacturing equipment helpful but not required.
    • Familiarity with heat treatment equipment helpful but not required.

 

Additive Manufacturing Machinist Required Skills:

  • Able to design fixtures for complex parts
  • Able to collaborate with technicians and engineers from various disciplines

  • Comfortable with getting a new part to program and machine on a weekly basis

 

Additive Manufacturing Machinist Desired Skills:

  • Has worked in an AS9100, NADCAP, and or ITAR certified production facility
  • Proficient with Mazak Variaxis Mills
  • Experience with machining of additively manufactured parts
  • Experience with machining near net shape parts such as castings
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing
  • Experience with Six Sigma
  • 5 Axis CNC machine experience
