We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other Technical disciplines.
In support of our client and the Department of Transportation, we are currently seeking a Transportation Project Specialist to join the Permits Environmental Division in our Nashville, TN office. The ideal candidate for this position will apply their water quality and stormwater regulatory knowledge towards the assessment of transportation projects, along with assisting in the preparation and review of permit applications.
Provide the designer a permit assessment for plan development that meets all the environmental requirements necessary for permit application
Ensure plans are permittable and apply for State and Federal environmental permits for TDOT construction projects to comply with environmental regulations
Coordinate with staff and external stake holders. External stakeholders include, but are not limited to, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
Coordinate with the company’s Design and Operations (Maintenance and Construction) Staff to provide clarity of permit requirements and resolve environmental issues identified during the construction phase of Department of Transportation projects
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Aptitude for maintaining a professional attitude and attention to detail while managing high volumes of projects on schedule
• Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, task, and time management, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask with attention to meeting project schedules
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional civil engineering work that may include student assistant or college seasonal civil engineering work with the State of Tennessee.
Possession of a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
Registration as a professional engineer with the State of Tennessee in either the civil engineering or structural engineering disciplines may be substituted for the required bachelor’s degree
